Hughie & Honey Bear (Soft Cover)
by Boniface Idziak    « View this author's BIO

Excerpt:
The opening of the tent was zippered. Bow began to use her sharp claws, pulling down until she'd ripped a large hole in the material so they could easily walk through. These were inexperienced campers. Hughie could tell because they'd left their food right out in the open instead of locking it up in their car.
The cardboard boxes were easily torn open. The cookies were the first to be eaten and then the strawberry jam which was delicious. The spice cake was the first Hughie had ever eaten and the sweet rolls were sticky but good.
When they opened the little freezer they were amazed at all the different kinds of meat it contained. Using their claws they opened can after can of pop and beer. Some cans, when shaken, would squirt all over them and the tent. They tasted them as they opened them. Some cans tasted bitter and other cans tasted so deliciously sweet.
The tent was in shambles by the time they were finished--a shambles so great that an entire new camping outfit would have to be purchased if the campers wanted to finish their vacation outdoors.

Synopsis
Recommended for ages 8 to 80!
A mother bear awakens after a long winter hibernation to find that she has given birth to two adorable bear cubs, Hughie and Honey.
The bear cubs get into all kinds of hilarious situations as Mother bear does her best to teach them everything they will need to know as adult bears.
Hughie's sister is trapped by conservation officers at a young age. Hughie meets a mate the following year and together they pull off some cute capers on the sportsmen who visit the area.
The young bear cubs mean no harm to humans. They are just curious and playful and have a craving for sweets.
The story is written by Boniface Idziak, a prospector in northern Ontario. He is able to weave a love of nature and natural settings into this delightful book, suitable for all ages.
