When we arrived at the hotel in London, I made my way to the railway station, picked up the parcel, and returned to the hotel. After dinner I talked to Peter, the driver, who was a great guy to have with you on a tour because the ladies just loved him. (I always wondered what it was he had) I told him the story about the lost panties. He loved it, thought it was great, so we hatched a plot.
The next morning before anyone was about, we borrowed a stepladder from the janitor. I got on top of the bus and tied the choice items of underwear to the radio antenna, leaving them flying in the breeze.
When the group were about to board the coach, Gladys saw her black underwear flying high. The look on her face was priceless. I thought she was going to have kittens. (It?s strange no one ever left or forgot anything again on that tour).
It was several weeks after we got back home that I went into Gladys?s flower shop. She confided in me that shortly after she had actually forgotten one of her bras.
But she said, I made bloody sure you didn't know about it.
On The Back Seat Of The Bus is a true travel adventure from start to finish and tells of the fun, entertainment and friendship found on a group tour.
Names, places and photographs will bring back many memories for those who have travelled on one of my many tours, while for those contemplating such a holiday it will be a perfect introduction into what takes place.
Enjoy a behind the scenes look as a tour is set up, learn how members of the Royal Family played a part in several of the episodes, follow the drama of travelling across Paris with the author, by ambulance, seeking medical help for a broken foot.
With horn blaring, sirens wailing, only to stop halfway, first for a coffee break, then to be asked point blanc if I could show them money to make sure that they were going to be paid. I have often wondered if they would have turfed me out on the sidewalk if unable to do so.
Its all here, nearly 221 pages of fun and excitement, plus 65 beautiful photographs, great reading, you will not want to put it down.
