My Friend Noma, The Wolf (Soft cover)

Excerpt: I knew by Grandmother's haste, that the journey was urgent. She walked with a purpose, holding my hand to help me along. I did not hold back. We had worked together too long for me to doubt her. When we passed through the swamp and entered the forest, I knew what this was all about. The wolf pups were yelping, one far and one close. She drew from her knapsack a heavy pair of leather gloves which she put on. The herb potion was opened and she handed that to me to hold. It was no problem finding the den. The yelping pup drew attention. It was under a big tree, not far from where we had seen them at play. In the distance you could hear the other pup yelping as his mother carried him along. The mother was moving him and would soon be back for this one. Grandmother bent over, and with her gloved hand, grabbed the pup by the back of the neck. With her free hand she removed the wire sticking under the fur. A quick pull and it came out. She then took the bottle from me and poured it into the open wound. The yelps turned to whimpering as she placed the pup back in the hole.
