Jazz jumped back out of Splitter's reach. Like little leopards, the kids were on the run. Jazz turned around to see Kat holding her boyfriend back. She heard Kat say, 'Chill out, Splitter. They're just nosey kids.'
The foursome didn't wait to see if Splitter would chill out. They scrambled through the tunnel and raced down the beach. They didn't stop until they were in front of the Sugarman's pink house.
'Whew! That was close,' Sarah puffed. Beads of sweat hugged her hairline.
'Scary, but it was awesome to be almost chased by bad guys.' Badger plopped onto the beach to catch his breath. 'By the way,' he puffed, 'I still want my snack. I'm starving.'
'That jerk is probably too chicken to really chase us.' Jazz sat back on her elbows and stared at the clouds. Watching clouds always made her think of Basil.

Jazz Sugarman is just itching for an adventure. If she can't find one she will dream one up and make sure that her little sister, Lizanne and friends Sarah and Badger Baker are included.
A few years earlier, the kids had discovered a secret cove near their hometown of Luna Beach, California. One day they meet two strangers, Kat and Splitter. Splitter wants to have a bonfire up at Luna Park. Jazz knows that's a bad idea. Later that night the kids hear a loud explosion from the park.
Who started the blaze? What clue does Jazz find near the charred shed in the park that makes her think she knows who started the fire?
At the end of their adventure, there are some special surprises waiting for the kids in their cove one moonlit night.
