Excerpt: When Anne was a young girl, England had a King instead of a Queen. "Be seated," the teacher said. "We will continue our reading of Tom Sawyer, so please take out your books and turn to page ten." We looked around. In every desk was a copy of that book written by Mark Twain. The teacher looked so stern we all obeyed, all but a big man sitting at a front desk on the left. My father was at a front desk on the right. "Boys!" The teacher glared at each one of them. "Take out your book and turn to page ten." Both of the men obeyed. She asked my dad to start the reading. He stuttered and stammered over every other word. I couldn?t believe it. The teacher was so cross. She made my dad go and sit in the corner on a stool, and put a dunce cap on his head. She told him to face the corner, but he kept swinging around to look at the rest of us when she wasn?t looking.
Synopsis Recommended for ages 6-10 The family's vacation is to be spent on Prince Edward Island, which is off of Canada's eastern shore. Brock and Becca are excited. Almost as soon as they get there, they meet some pirates. An island is surrounded by water so there are lighthouses to be climbed, beaches to be explored, boat rides, and even an underwater farm that raises mussels. Their very last stop on P.E.I. is to be a trip through a Time Travel Tunnel that will take them back to the year 1864.
